As we reported earlier this year, Glee creator Ryan Murphy received the green-light from NBC to move forward with a pilot for a new sitcom entitled “The New Normal”.
We also reported that Real Housewives of Atlanta star and recurring Glee castmate NeNe Leakes would be joining the cast. Now, NBC has announced that it has put in orders for the comedy to be picked up!
The new show will star Andrew Rannells, “The Hangover” actor Justin Bartha, Ellen Barkin, and Georgia King.
The single-camera project is described as “a heartwarming comedy about a blended family of a gay couple, Bryan (Rannells) and David (Bartha), and the woman who becomes a surrogate (King) to help them start a family.” Barkin is cast as the surrogate’s glamorous grandmother.
Last we heard, NeNe was set to appear as a character named “Rocky” in a recurring role. Hopefully this still comes to fruition.
