If you’re a “hip-hop head”, then more than likely you have been privy to rapper Drake‘s now infamous line about Kobe Bryant‘s soon to be ex-wife Vanessa Bryant being awarded more than half of “Kobe’s fortune”! *side-eye to that “Kobe’s fortune” phrase, because in my opinion….it’s THEIR fortune!*
In Drake’s verse on Rick Ross‘ “Stay Schemin” song, the Toronto native raps:
“Kobe bout to lose 150 M’s. Kobe my n*gga. I hate it had to be him. B*tch, you wasn’t wit me shootin in the gym.”
Now, Drake wants to apologize and explain what he actually meant by the verse. In an interview with Nah Right, he explains:
That line came from a conversation about being this young and making this much money and the fear of losing it all. I just used his potential situation to address my own life. I never intended to offend Vanessa or anyone else. That line had everything to do with me and what goes on in my head as a 25 year old man with this much income flowing in. Kobe is and always will be a friend and an icon to me.
“That line had everything to do with me and what goes on in my head as a 25 year old man with this much income flowing in.”???? Yet and still you used Kobe and Vanessa Bryant’s name? BOY, “you need more people”.
