Cardi B‘s highly anticipated debut album Invasion of Privacy is finally here (standing ovation)!!!
But before the album dropped, the Bronx native sat down with Beats 1’s Ebro Darden to talk about the new album and also the rumors surrounding her personal life! *cough, cough: her pregnancy*
Check out some highlights and her full chat with Ebro below:
On the pregnancy rumors: “People just gotta tune in a little bit on my album. They will know a little bit more. I can’t address all the rumors and everything. I have been so open to people about myself, people cannot expect me to open up about everything. Certain things have to be private. You cannot invade my damn privacy. I’m not a damn animal at the zoo, that you just could see everything. No. People will find out more. If it arrive, or if it don’t arrive, then you’re gonna know what the fuck’s going on.”
On the rumored beef with Nicki Minaj: “It’s really internet made-up. I feel like fans and people want to see that happen because it’s really entertaining. I ain’t even gonna front. When Nicki and Remy was beefing, everybody was tuning in like, ‘What’s next?’ But I don’t have time for that. If you ain’t fucking my man or if you not taking my money from me, you not stopping my money, I don’t give a fuck about you.”
On whether her song “Be Careful” is about fiance Offset: “I wasn’t talking about Offset. I was just talking about things I relate to, that have happened to me…I heard the record before I even was in love with Offset…At first, we liked each other but we was very protective because people put things in your ear. I had to protect my heart. But then, I gave in. Just love. Let’s love each other.”
On getting Lauryn Hill’s approval for a song: “We was really nervous about [it]…If she didn’t approve it, it’s a no-go. She approved it. She had to hear the record to approve it or not. Not only was I relieved, but I was like, I cannot believe Lauryn Hill approved this record. I don’t care about anybody else. This is Lauryn Hill. For her to approve it, it’s the biggest stamp to it. Nobody can talk shit about this record to me. The sensei approved it.”
On her new clothing line: “Fashion Nova gave me an opportunity to design what I like, what I want to put out. I’m gonna put out a line with them, a little somethin’ somethin’. I’m collabbin’ with them for the fall. It’s gonna be great because it’s what I like…They’ve been rocking with me from the beginning. On top of that, Fashion Nova is big. I know a lot of people can’t afford expensive-ass shit…So everything is gonna be affordable. I want people to look good and high end with a good budget price. That’s the perfect opportunity.”
