Janet Jackson shocked the world when it was revealed over the weekend that she had split from her husband of five years, Qatari businessman Wissam Al Mana, just three months after the birth of their first child Eissa.
A source is now revealing that the pair quietly split right after their son was born, and it appears their different backgrounds may have been the issue.
“They separated shortly after the baby was born,” says the insider to People. “The cultural differences between her and Wissam became even more obvious [after Eissa arrived]. They come from very different worlds.”
The source continues, “For years, Janet tried to adapt to his culture. Since it’s not a culture she grew up with, it’s been challenging for her. She often felt she disappointed Wissam.”
