Served 20 years in prison and got to shake hands and take selfies with the biggest stars in Hollywood (and he’s holding his lady’s tote): ALL HAIL GARY!!!

Gary Alan Coe, the man now lovingly known as “Gary From Chicago” on Sunday night’s Academy Awards, had quite the colorful past before stealing hearts and the big show!

As part of his hosting duties, Jimmy Kimmel detoured a sightseeing bus through the Dolby Theater where Gary and his fiance Vickie Vines were caught off guard by walking into the live show, along with others, unbeknownst to them.

Gary gave a phone interview with ABC 7 Chicago where he revealed that he was just released from prison THREE DAYS before the Oscars after serving 20 years in a California prison for multiple felonies. He revealed that he found God and fiance Vickie!

“Change is possible!” Coe said during the interview. “It’s a sad day to be in prison for 20 years and not be able to be a dad, granddad to your children.”

“You know what my son told me today, man? I almost come to tears. He said he’s proud of me. So to hear your children say that they’re proud of you, means the world to me,” Coe said.

Awwww, man! I don’t feel like crying today….

As for taking a photo with Oscar nominee Denzel Washington, Coe’s fiance Vicki revealed she was ecstatic.  “I’ve been watching Denzel since he was on St. Elsewhere. Oh my god. I could die and go to heaven right now.”
