Karl Lagerfeld was none too pleased with actress Meryl Streep who was all set to wear Chanel on the red carpet for this year’s Academy Awards on Sunday – she is nominated for her 20th statue this year!
“I made a sketch, and we started to make the dress,” Lagerfeld told WWD. “‘Don’t continue the dress. We found somebody who will pay us,’” Lagerfeld claims of a call he got last minute from the actress’ team in favor of a label that offered to pay her to wear their garment on the carpet.
But a rep for the acclaimed actress refuted those claims telling The Hollywood Reporter that “the statement is absolutely false, and that it is against her personal ethics to be paid to wear a gown on the red carpet. Chanel did not immediately return THR’s request for comment.”
WELP. Somebody’s lyin’, and I’m inclined to believe Lady Streep. Whose side are you on, Dancers?
