Congratulations are in order for hip-hop mogul Jay Z who was revealed as one of the inductees in the 2017 Songwriters Hall of Fame.
As for why it took so long for a rapper to be recognized into the organization, producer Nile Rogers said, “Jay Z was in a space where, even though he’s had more pop albums than anyone else, because he did it through rap, which isn’t considered part of the normal pop music scene.”
Huh? I guess….
Other inductees include Berry Gordy, Max Martin, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Max Martin, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Robert Lamm, James Pankow and Peter Cetera.
The induction ceremony will take place Thursday, June 15 in NYC. Congrats again!
