YES, YES and YES!!!
Zendaya fronts the January 2017 issue of Allure magazine.
In the feature, the actress and aspiring fashion designer talks Giuliana Rancic‘s controversial comments about her previous Oscars look, her fashion style and more! Check out her spread + excerpts below:
On her red carpet style: “I love to slay a red carpet. When I step on one, I’m a different person, like Sasha Fierce and Beyoncé. Honestly, I walk like an old man—the Coleman Trudge. On the red carpet, I’m this dainty, slow, elegant gazelle. We don’t do pretty. Pretty is boring.”
On doing her own makeup: “I just use a taupe shade on my eyes, thin cat-eye liner, and natural everything else.”
On the upside of Giuliana Rancic’s comments about her red carpet look: “There was a little girl for Halloween last year that was me from the Oscars. [The Zendaya Barbie] was a big moment not just for me but for women of color.”
On self expression: “I feel a responsibility to showcase different kinds of beauty through hair—every woman should be able to see herself in me in some way. I love when I get to wear my cornrows, because it’s surprising. So many people are like, ‘Wow! What a fresh, new, fun hairstyle!’ But no. It’s been around for a long time. I’m just whipping it out.”
